Panama is a tropical country with an average temperature ranging from between 25 to 30 degrees Celsius everywhere except in the highland province of Chiriqui, the Valley of Anton and Cerro Azul where the temperature averages 12 to 15 degrees Celsius. The dry season runs from December to April and the rainy season runs from May to November. It is recommended to take the following with you on your trip to Panama:

  • Umbrella or rain jacket
  • Small, sturdy backpack for short trips
  • Small flashlight
  • Start-up supply of toiletries
  • 1 bath towel, 1 beach towel
  • Travel alarm clock
  • Water-resistant and shockproof watch
  • Digital camera
  • Bug repellent
  • Sun screen
  • Loose-fitting shirts and pants
  • Hat or cap
  • Sunglasses
  • Good pair of shoes for walking (rain boots can be purchased in many local stores but good hiking shoes are harder to find)
  • Durable clothes if you are going to hiking or volunteering in areas outside of the city (practical clothing can be purchased at affordable prices as well)
  • A jacket and/or 2 sweaters if you are travelling to the cooler areas of Panama
