Due to the diversity in geography and the activities available in Costa Rica, what you bring depends largely on your travel plans.  Remember mountains can get very cold and warm clothes are needed.  Light clothes are recommended for more tropical areas.  Some items are difficult to obtain in Costa Rica, such as: personal medication, good books in your own language and electrical equipment you may use.  In addition, a good guidebook and a Spanish phrase book are always useful.
