You can combine your program with an array of water sports activities such as swimming, surfing or scuba diving. Only 15 minutes east of Sosua is surfer's paradise Cabarete, one of the best wind- and kite surfing spots in the world. Base yourself in Sosua for a few weeks for a real Caribbean experience. You will not only learn Spanish, but also get to know more about the Dominican Republic, the inhabitants, their culture and way of life!

Spanish Program

Spanish Program This Dominican Spanish school offers lessons at all levels and emphasises on the communicative way of learning. Confidence is built-up over the week due to the small class sizes (maximum 7 people) and personalized teaching materials. Spanish group lessons are either 20 or 30 hours per week, with individual classes also available on request. The teachers are motivated and professional, as they encourage students to speak Spanish and give advice on what to see and do around Sosua. There is also the possibility to combine your Spanish classes with surfing and scuba diving lessons, as you get to grips with the Dominican way of life.

Volunteer Program

The school in Sosua from 2014 on also offers the opportunity to participate in a Summer Volunteer Program which consists of 2 weeks of standard group course in Sosua followed by 2 weeks of volunteer work in a school in a near-by La Cienaga. Here, volunteers can either work with the children, help with infrastructure tasks (such as painting and garden work) or be involved in marketing related tasks such as photography. Your program will be set up according to your abilities and talents. Note that this program has fixed starting dates in the summer and that the program always includes accommodation in the school residence.

Accommodation This Spanish school offers different kinds of accommodation in the Dominican Republic. The school studio is located in the school building; the school apartment is situated on campus. The beach and centre of Sosua are both 5 minutes away, so the location is perfect! For both options, your single room is spacious and bright, with TV, fan and safe. Rooms are cleaned daily and there is a communal area where students can relax. The apartment has a fully equipped shared kitchen where students can prepare their meals. If you prefer to stay in a hotel in Sosua, or in either a centrally located comfortable apartment, or a luxurious executive apartment right at the beach, we can also help you to make the arrangements!

Activities & Excursions

Activities and Excursions Excursions and activities are frequently organised for students at this school in Sosua, so you will never be short of things to do during your time off. BBQs, Dominican cooking classes and dance classes (merengue and bachata) are regularly on offer, to show the students the Caribbean flair and vitality. There are excursions to local factories, producing rum and cigars, and visits to nature parks, the countryside and the enchanting beaches of Playa Grande. For those who love sea and surf, the coral reefs near Sosua offer perfect conditions for scuba diving and snorkelling, while Cabarete is the place to be for wind- and kite surfing.
