The National Museum of Archaeology, Anthropology and History of Peru is housed in a Vice Regal mansion, once a residence of both the Viceroys and Liberators, and considered the Museum “par excellence” of Peru. Here they conserve the famous stone monuments of the formative era about 1000B.C (The Raimondi Stelar and the Tello Obelisk). The museum houses the most important textile collection in Peru that displays weavings since the Pre-Ceramic period until the Inca era. Also on display is an important collection of metals from Ancient Peru.

The Larco Museum, is located in an ancient Vice Regal Mansion from the 17th century that was constructed above a pre-Columbian pyramid from the 8th Century!
