THE PROJECT

This Buenos Aires volunteer project works with children who come from poor families or that have lived a life on the streets. The children range in age, mostly being between 6 and 12 years old.

This organization works mainly in three areas: therapeutic assessment for families with problems of violence, sexual abuse, drugs, etc.; artistic and educative workshops, including school support; and finally, eating centers that offer breakfast or lunch for many children every day. Volunteers work only in the workshops and in the eating centers, that are located in different neighborhoods of the city, but they should go twice to the main center that is located in the suburbs of Buenos Aires (at the beginning and at the end of the volunteer program).

YOUR ROLE AS A VOLUNTEER

Volunteers have varied schedules depending on time of year and on which kind of classes are being offered. Could be 2 through 5 times a week, depending on the activities that are going on at the moment of the volunteer program. Some of the activities you may participate in include: dancing lessons, arts and music. You can also help in preparing the classes and time spent with the children. Also, in some centers volunteers could help during lunchtime.

WHAT THE PROJECT NEEDS

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated volunteers with creative ideas and a desire to participate. You must be able to commit to a minimum of 4 weeks to this project and you must have at least an intermediate level of Spanish (you can book a Spanish language program with us for your first weeks if necessary).
