THE PROJECT

This project is a medical program based in the small village of Copan in the Honduras on the border of Guatemala. There are many people who live in the region of Copan who need medical attention and due to a lack of medical professionals in the area there are times that they do not receive it. There are various private and public clinics in the region; however there is an immense lack of trained medical workers therefore there is a huge opportunity for volunteers to make a difference and receive a truly rewarding experience simultaneously.


YOUR ROLE AS A VOLUNTEER

As a volunteer with this project you will be assisting the doctor in seeing and treating patients. There are various areas and activities in which you will be able to assist, however these will depend on your knowledge in the medical field as well as your profession in the medical field.


WHAT THE PROJECT NEEDS

  • Intermediate to advanced level of Spanish*
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Commitment and dedication to the project
  • Passion for helping others
  • You must be a doctor, nurse or medical student to be eligible to work at the project
  • Minimum time commitment recommended is 4 weeks

*Volunteers must have a minimum comprehension level of Spanish in order to work effectively within this project. Volunteers work closely with the local doctors and with the patients; therefore it is important that you are able to communicate proficiently in order to help and treat others, as well as receive the full, rich experience that this project has to offer. Therefore it is recommended that you take Spanish lessons at the local Spanish school prior to commencing your volunteer work. Please contact us for additional information.
